Bacterial vaginosis rapid test kit is available in the rapid qualitative analysis of sialidase levels in vaginal secretion. Sialidase is secreted from anaerobic bacteria in the vaginal flora, and their activity is proportional to the quantity of bacteria. High activity levels suggest the excessive growth of anaerobic bacteria. According to the clinical research, compared to Amsel method, the sialidase test have many advantages such as high sensitivity (89.4%) and specificity (95.8%). In addition, the test is of high coincidence rate (94.7%) with a negative and positive predictive value of 97.7% and 82%, and therefore can be used as a conventional method for the diagnose of BV.

Testing Principle
This kit is based on the remarkable increase in the sialidase activity of vaginal secretions from BV patients. When the sialidase contacts with chromogenic substrate, the decomposition reaction will occur, leading to change of color, from colorless to blue or green. On the contrary, there will be no color change when the biological activity of sialidase is not sufficient to induce the decomposition.
